The Ligue Nationale de Volleyball Pro A (France) finished their regular season today and Canadian Brett Dailey (Toronto, On) sits ranked number one in blocks while playing for Ajaccio.
Dailey recorded 97 blocks in 26 matches this year, 17 more than the runner-up, and averaging 0.92 blocks/set. On only two occasions this season did the Toronto native fail to record a block, and managed to record five blocks or more on nine occasions.
The former CCAA All-Canadian helped Ajaccio make the leap from a 10th place finish last year to second this year. On top of his gigantic blocking numbers, Dailey also scored 167 points and chipped in with 22 aces leaving him third on Ajaccio for scoring with 286 points.
For those who know Dailey, it comes to no surprise that he’s winning again. He did it in 2007 when he led the Algonquin Thunder to a CCAA Bronze, getting named tournament All-Star in the process, and it continued overseas. After just three years, he won back-to-back Swiss League titles with TV Amriswil in 2009 and 2010, and followed that up with a Finnish League championship with Santasport Rovaniemi in 2011.
Dailey and Ajaccio will take on Beauvais in the Pro A Quarterfinals starting April 11th.
